CHILL GROOVES & SMOOTH JAZZ NEWS…LENNY WILLIAMS, BRIAN MCKNIGHT, COOL JAZZ CHRISTMAS TOUR & MORE...

New releases to look out for in 2007 include albums from Spyro Gyra, Pieces Of A Dream, Jaco Pastorius Big Band, Marion Meadows, Nestor Torres, Bobby Lyle, Mike Stern, and Doc Powell.

Lenny Williams, former lead singer of the Tower Of Power during its most prolific period, has just released a new solo CD, It Must Be Love. His single, Tuesday, has just been added to the playlist at SoulRadioOnline.com, in heavy rotation. Williams is next scheduled to perform on December 7 at the San Leandro High School in Northern California, and it’s a benefit concert for the Keep Music Rockin’ Foundation.

Brian McKnight’s new Marvin Gaye-inspired CD, Ten, is in stores now, featuring the singles, Used To Be My Girl and Find Myself In You.

The Average White Band performed in Las Vegas on Dec. 1-2 at Rock’s Lounge at the Red Rock Hotel & Casino, and most impressively admission was free to all who attended!

The Godfather of Soul James Brown headlines a New Year’s Eve concert at the BB King Blues Bar & Grill in New York City. Brown will perform two shows at 8 and 10 pm.

Gilles Peterson is set for an exclusive DJ set at Hiro Ballroom in New York City on January 24, 2007. He’ll be joined by additional acts still to be announced.

Mr. Scruff appears at Cielo in New York City on February 15, 2007.

The Cool Jazz Christmas Tour featuring Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, David Benoit and Michael Franks are on the road through the end of December. Here’s a listing of where they are headed to next: Dec. 8 – Naples, FL @ Philharmonic Center for the Arts; Dec. 10 – Ft. Lauderdale, FL @ Broward Center for the Arts; Dec. 15 – San Francisco @ Nob Hill Masonic Center; Dec. 16 – Dallas, TX @ The Majestic Theatre; Dec. 20 – Mesa, AZ @ Mesa Arts Center; and Dec. 21-22 – Cerritos, CA @ Cerritos Center for the Arts.
